Dress for Success: Our Studio Dress Code

At JLA Dance Academy, we believe that dressing the part is essential to dancing your best. All dancers are strongly encouraged to follow our studio dress code to ensure a focused, professional, and safe environment.

Wearing proper dance attire allows our instructors to:

• Clearly see body alignment
   
• Give accurate corrections
   
• Reduce risk of injury
   
• Maintain a clean, unified look in the classroom
   

To support this standard:

• Hair must be neatly secured in a ponytail or bun
   
• No jewelry is permitted during class (small stud earrings are the only exception)
   
• Dancers not in proper dress code will be asked to observe rather than participate in class

To ensure the safety, comfort, and professionalism of every dancer at JLA Dance Academy, we require all students to arrive in appropriate dance attire and footwear for every class.

Proper footwear is essential for technique and safety.
Crocs, UGGs, sandals, and boots are not permitted in any class—especially sneaker-based classes. Dancers must wear the correct dance shoes for their specific style (jazz, ballet, hip hop, etc.).

• Leotard, tights, leggings or fitted dance shorts
   
• Correct shoes for their specific class
   
• Hair must be pulled back and away from the face in a ponytail or bun
   

• Fitted, athletic-style clothing that allows for full range of motion
   
• Proper footwear for the class being taken
   

JLA warm-ups may be worn during warm-up exercises, barre, and stretching.
However, they must be removed once technique and choreography begin.
